If your hair is pitch black, it's hard to get highlights and be subtle about it! You could try a deep burgundy or caramel highlights. If you're looking to stand out, I always though a Manic Panic purple would be awesome! Well green would not look good. Pink. Depends on who you are. Blue if its a dark blue like a darker shade of navy blue. I prefer red. Not like bloody red. But like a wine red or a scarlet. Burgundy is the darkest red i would go for you. Don't worry i wanted to get red highlights for my dark brown hair. Instead i got blonde and hate it lol.
definitely not blonde, try to go for deeper colors otherwise it will look fake and cheap. Caramel and medium brown would look nice especially if the highlights are thin and almost blend into your hair color.
