I'd say hard because whenever I use a soft bristle brush it doesn't seem to get through my hair as well...that's just a personal prefernce

A soft boar brush. Try to brush hair after you've softened it, like after you moisturize it. Don't brush too much either, use the brush more to smooth the edges and use a comb to style your hair.
natural boar bristle is the best for all hair types...and, it's way better for your scalp, doesn't scratch it and open it up to germs, diseases...you can get them at any beauty supply store, even the ones that sell to the public. A little spendy but lasts a long time and great for your hair and scalp.

it depends.....is your hair short and nappy or short and fine....try both...there only a dollar at the hair store

none, use your figers to style your short hair, with a little wax rubbed in between your figers first, you can get your hair to do what you want it to, using a brush will just mess up your style.
